It was a mixed night for The Machine in Sheffield, as James won one and lost one in the steel city. James played Raymond Van Barneveld, in a game that was settled by just one break of throw. The pair were locked at 4-4 until The Machine ran off three legs on the spin, including a 13 dart leg to break the Dutchman’s throw. It was James finishing that again stood out hitting 7/11 goes at a double.
In James second game of the night, he faces the 16 times champion of the world Phil Taylor. In a cagey first few legs Taylor went into a 4-1 lead, James then git a foothold in the game and got to within two legs of Taylor at 6-4. Taylor won the match 7-4, but only after James weird double 10 for a 140 finish.
