James Wade missed out on the chance to move into the quarter-finals of the UK Open after suffering defeat at the hands of Terry Jenkins in a last-leg decider on Saturday evening.

Wade, who has won the tournament twice before, produced a spirited fightback from 8-5 down only to see his opponent clinch the final leg. more

James Wade moved into the last 16 of the UK Open with a 9-5 victory against Kim Huybrechts on Saturday afternoon.

The two-time winner averaged 97, following up his impressive third round demolition of Michael Mansell, who he beat 9-1 on Friday with a 101 average.

The seven-time major winner will face Terry Jenkins on Saturday evening following the open draw, which took place after the afternoon’s action. more

Following speculation after his non-selection for the 2014 Premier League, James Wade has issued the following statement:

“I am obviously bitterly disappointed not be included in the Premier League Darts line-up for the first time in seven years.

“The news is devastating, particularly as I feel I was one of the four most consistent players in 2013, reaching the semi-finals in many televised tournaments, including the Premier League play-offs. more

Wade moved into the last 16 after recovering from falling three sets behind in a race to four.

‘The Machine’ dropped just one leg as he grabbed his fourth win of the week, following a perfect record in the group stage, sealing the second round success with a stunning 125 checkout.


James Wade made it a hat-trick of victories to qualify for the last 16 of the Grand Slam of Darts as a group winner.

‘The Machine’, who had already beaten Peter Wright and Gary Anderson, defeated Wesley Harms on Tuesday to top Group B in Wolverhampton. more
