James Wade eased into the quarter-finals of The Masters in Edinburgh after enjoying a 10-5 victory against Brendan Dolan on Saturday evening.

Wade produced a solid display to set up a last eight clash with Adrian Lewis, when the tournament, featuring the world’s top 16 players, reaches its conclusion on Sunday.

The first two legs where shared before ‘The Machine’ hit a 180 and a neat 82 finish, only to see Dolan take out 141 to level.

Wade cleaned up 82 again and then grabbed the game’s first break of throw by finishing 96 in clinical fashion.

He pegged double ten to go three legs clear and remained a break of throw ahead until the twelfth leg, in which he took out 107 to go 8-4 in front.

The recent World Grand Prix finalist pinned double five to increase his advantage to five legs and, after Dolan had pulled a leg back, Wade finished the job with a 101 checkout.

“I didn’t think I played that well but the stats say I did better than I thought so that’s a good sign.”, said Wade, the world number five, who averaged over 97.

“I’m looking forward to the next game. It will be a good, quick game against Adrian and I’ll be able to get in my rhythm so I should be able to improve on this performance.”
