In a close game, the pair shared the first eight legs of the match. James edges in front 5-4, before securing an important break of throw on double ten. In his second match of the night, James played Phil Taylor. The shoreline doesn’t reflect on the part James played in a great match. Phil took the first the opening two legs of the game before James took out 78 to get a foot in the game. Leg four was like a dagger in the heart for James, leaving just 41 after nine darts on the Taylor throw. The 16 times world champion took out 122 to break James’ heart. After that the game seemed to go Taylor’s way, James played brilliantly, but Taylor kept on taking out big numbers at big times. A 7-1 win for Taylor doesn’t reflect on how much James contributed to the match.
